NitroWall for Professional Network Security

Your powerful firewall, intrusion prevention system (IPS) and VPN gateway. Trustworthy thanks to open source firmware and software. For professional users with professional requirements and still easy to use with Openwrt.

Firewall and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)

Based on the powerful OPNsense, NitroWall meets all the requirements of a professional firewall and IPS such as multi WAN, hardware failover, routing protocols, web filtering, and two-factor authentication.

VPN

VPN gateway for IPSec and OpenVPN with powerful Intel Quadcore i7 CPU with AES-NI for fast data throughput. Secure two-factor authentication via Nitrokey (instead of password) is possible with IPSec.

Open Source Firmware Coreboot

Instead of a proprietary BIOS, the NitroWall uses the open source firmware Coreboot and SeaBIOS, which offers transparency, minimal attack surface and high speed.

Disabled Intel Management Engine

Vulnerable and proprietary low-level hardware parts are disabled to make the hardware more robust against advanced attacks.
The Intel Management Engine (ME) is a type of separate computer within all modern Intel processors (CPU). The ME acts as a master controller for your CPU and has extensive access to your computer (system memory, display, keyboard, network). Intel controls the code of the ME and severe vulnerabilities have already been found in the ME that allow local and remote attacks. Therefore, ME can be considered a backdoor and is disabled in NitroWall.

High Speed

Unlike common ARM-based systems, NitroWall contains the powerful Intel Quadcore CPU i7-8550U with up to 4 GHz and AES-NI. Up to 32 GB RAM, SSD and six Gigabit Ethernet ports provide sufficient resources.

WiFi Access Point

With OpenWrt, the NitroWall can be used not only with wired Ethernet network,s but also for WiFi-5 wireless networks with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz with transmission rates of up to 867 MBit/s.

Fanless, Rugged Metal Chassis

NitroWall features a small, rugged metal chassis. It does not require a fan, making it completely silent and virtually maintenance-free. In addition, NitroWall is very energy efficient.

Numerous Operating Systems

Instead of OPNsense or OpenWrt, NitroWall can be operated with other operating systems such as pfSense, Ubuntu, Windows or Proxmox.

Robust Industrial PC

Thanks to its closed housing and compact size, NitroWall is also suitable as a robust industrial PC in combination with operating systems such as Ubuntu or Windows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which operating system should I use?
If you want to use WiFi, choose OpenWrt. If you don't need WiFi and need a professional firewall, IPS or VPN gateway, choose OPNsense.
